What was the main challenge you had before starting coaching?
Before coaching, I had been living with a health condition for years and was exhausted by the cycle of pushing myself only to repeatedly crash. I had returned to part-time work, but was putting work before my health, even though I knew that wasn’t helping my recovery.
I also recognised that I struggle with certain ADHD traits and a deep-rooted belief that I have to say yes to everything. I felt guilty asking for help, and I could see that my traits and habits were getting in the way of recovery.
I didn’t need someone to tell me what I should do. I needed someone to help me untangle why I wasn’t doing what I already knew would help.
What has been the biggest benefit you have gained from the coaching?
The biggest benefit has been learning to genuinely prioritise my health without feeling like I’m failing in some way.
There have been practical shifts. I now try to ask myself, “Is this good for my well-being?” a question which had never entered my head before. That question alone is beginning to change how I respond to requests at home and work.
Coaching helped me see how some of my overwhelm was self-imposed, saying yes to things before thinking.
Redesigning my workweek, building in rest time, and defining sustainable boundaries has been so helpful. The changes have not been dramatic or extreme. They have been small and realistic, and I think this has made them easier to engage with.
What did you like most about the coaching relationship?
At the start, I said I wanted someone “in my corner”, and that is exactly how it felt. Leigh went at my pace, which was crucial given my fatigue levels, and I never felt overwhelmed.
She listened deeply, but also gently pushed my thinking further.
As a coach myself, I recognise that the balance of space and stretch has made all the difference, and I have always left sessions clearer than when I arrived.
If you were to recommend Leigh to a friend, what would you say?
Leigh is great at creating space for you to zoom out and see the bigger picture.
Coaching has not been about a dramatic overnight change. It has been about steady, sustainable tweaks that actually stick. I now have practical tools, clearer boundaries and a much healthier internal dialogue.
Most importantly, I feel more at ease with putting my well-being first. And that has changed everything.
